Happy 4th of July

The morning of July 4th, Chris and I woke up to go have breakfast somewhere like Cracker Barrel. Well, while Chris was in the shower, he had another idea...

Drive to Kansas City for the day and go to the Royals game that night, so we did it! We hopped in the car, drove through McDonald's for breakfast (he still owes me Cracker Barrel!), and headed out of town!

When we got to KC, we had lunch at a sports grill and then explored "The Plaza," an outdoor shopping venue, much like The Summit or Bradley Fair, only bigger. After a couple of hours, a huge thunderstorm rolled in and trapped us in an italian ice cream shop for a while. We eventually had to make a run for it!

When we got to the park, it was still raining, so we went inside and stayed under the grandstand for a while. We had a great time at the game! Unfortunately, the Royals lost though!

Well, after the ball game, there was supposed to be this huge fireworks display... well, they counted down and turned the lights out and boom, nothing happened. So, they tried a second time... nothing! After a third try, the announcer told everyone that due to technical difficulties (ie, the fireworks people didn't cover their stuff up during the rain!) there would be no show tonight! Can you believe it! BUT, our ticket would act as a raincheck to any remaining Royals game... so that cheered Chris right up!
